Supplier Focus: Liz and Alex from Blue Avenue
I don’t do supplier blogs that often. However, I had the pleasure of working with Blue Avenue and was amazed by their service, so how could I not share? I do Supplier Focus in a Q&A format so you get to hear about them in their own words. At the end, I will share my experience of working with them.
How/Why was Blue Avenue Born?
Blue Avenue was created with inspiration taken from our own wedding. We knew what stationery we wanted and how we wanted it displaying. However, there was a lack of truly creative wedding stationers that were prepared to create something that was able to perfectly fit our theme and ideas. As well as produce them to a very high quality. Working in the high end print trade for multiple years, we set our standards very high. This was the main reason why we struggled find another company to produce our stationery for us, resulting in us creating them ourselves. We got so many compliments it gave us the idea to create our own company offering a one stop shop for all your stationery needs.
The name came from the saying ‘something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’. Avenue was inspired from the song ‘Electric Avenue’ and as we laughed, we realised it rolls off of the tongue well.
Who is the team behind Blue Avenue?
The team behind Blue Avenue is a creative husband and wife duo. Both with a plethora of print knowledge and a head full of ideas just bursting to get out.
What do you offer your clients?
We offer an affordable range of wedding stationery which often isn’t available for smaller budgets. Blue Avenue also offer high end stationery which includes hot foil stamping, debossing, embossing, duplexing creating a double thickness card, the list is truly endless. If you can think of it, we can create it! We only use the highest quality of materials and no matter what product you require, we value all of our clients the same as we know just how special your perfect day is. Blue Avenue live to make your experience as special and exciting as possible. After all, you have let us be such a big part of your special day.
Who has inspired you the most in the industry and why?
It’s hard to say who has inspired us the most as we have seen so many inspiring and creative companies in our time in the print industry. One of the most inspiring things we have ever read is ‘stationery is the first and last impression your guests will have of your wedding day, from the save the dates, to the thank you cards’. This has stuck with us throughout and is the reason we live to create something that fits the theme and personality of our clients perfectly.
What is your favourite design to date and why?
We are proud of all of our designs but our favourite design is the hummingbird. This was one of our very first designs and the design which inspired us to get the ball rolling. It is versatile and available in so many colours and finishes, it is suitable for any wedding!
What is the best piece of advice you can offer couples looking for their stationery?
The best advice we would like to offer couples is not to settle. You can absolutely have everything you want; you just have to look for the perfect company to give you anything you can dream of.
My client had a vision and found a supplier that could deliver. The stationer stopped responding to my client a few weeks before the wedding, so they reached out to me. I contacted the supplier and, although they didn’t call me back, they did drop an email to my client saying they no longer could fulfil the order.
As a result, I asked around to see if anyone could do a bespoke order on very short notice. My client had her heart set on the design and didn’t want to have to change it this late on so bespoke was the only way. Blue Avenue was one of the companies that came up.
From the moment we first spoke, I knew they were the right company. They listened, asked relevant questions, came up with suggestions that would look just as amazing but cheaper and, above all, worked hard to deliver on the brief at short notice. We received the first proof within a couple of days and, when my client wanted the colour changing slightly, they got right on it and sent over an updated proof.
However, timescales were tight. For Blue Avenue, it wasn’t an issue. Once completed and paid for, the stationery was couriered to my client. To say I had a happy client would be an understatement. Not only did they love the work, the fact that they offered options that could save them money was unexpected.
As a professional, the service I received was second-to-none. They kept me updated with progress, asked me questions around any grey areas and maintained a good relationship with the client. The product was delivered securely and packaged well. Furthermore, as for the items themselves, the quality was outstanding.
I would definitely recommend Blue Avenue for your wedding stationery.
